The distribution of said recruitment is as follows: 349 officers (2nd Lieutenant); 8,892 soldiers for the special quota as approved by the President; 1,069 soldiers for the newly organized 54th Engineer Brigade; and the 3,600 soldiers representing the annual quota replacement in the Army.
Philippine Army 2018 Recruitment Form Qualifications:
To qualify for the position, applicant must:
- be a natural born Filipino citizen
- be 18-23 years old on the date of their appointment
- be at least 5 feet in height
- be single and without child
- be of good moral character
- have passed the Philippine Army Aptitude Test Battery or Armed Forces of the Philippines Service Aptitude Test
- have passed the pre-qualifying physical fitness test and physical medical exam, and lastly,
- be physically and mentally fit for military training
Ten percent of the total number of recruits is allocated for women, while 5% are from indigenous peoples.
When asked whether these slots will also be open to surrenderers or former members of the New People’s Army, Lieutenant General Glorioso Miranda, Commanding General of the Philippine Army, said anyone who volunteers will be allowed to undergo the application process, as long as they fulfill the requirements.

Application is open to all who fulfill the minimum requirements, but priority will be given to applicants with these qualifications, in the following order:
- graduates of Military Science 43 and Advance ROTC
- college graduates
- those with 72 units and up in college
- high school graduates but possess technical and vocational skills needed by the Army

Trainees or candidate soldiers will receive a gross income of P16,852. Once enlisted, the new Private will receive a starting gross income of P23,204 plus benefits.
